Seal Weld :
As per ASME VIII Div. 1 , UW-20.2(c) ,. A tube-to-tube sheet seal weld is one used to supplement an expanded tube joint to ensure leak tightness.
Mostly, fillet weld is preferred for Seal welding.
Strength Weld :
As per ASME VIII Div-1, UW-20.2(a) A full strength tube to-tube sheet weld is one in which the design strength is equal to or greater than the axial tube strength, Ft. When the weld in a tube-to-tube sheet joint meets the requirements of UW-20.4, it is a full strength weld and the joint does not require qualification by shear load testing. Such a weld also provides tube joint leak tightness. Only Fillet weld or Groove with Fillet can be used , depends up on each project and its design requirements.
